Brazil: Reforestation

Brazil encompasses the largest rainforest in the world (the Amazon, if you didn’t already know!) It’s also one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. Brazil’s ecosystems, along with the people who rely on them, are seriously threatened by deforestation.

The tropical reforestation work we’re supporting in the Amazon rainforest is protecting thousands of endemic plant species, including jaguars, sloths and black spider monkeys, whilst helping to support local communities toward sustainable agriculture.

The projects we support across Brazil work closely with indigenous groups, creating financial opportunities for communities within the Amazonian region, across to Cerrado and into the coastal mangrove habitats.

From planting mangroves on the coast of Brazil, to reforesting huge areas of Cerrado, the Brazilian Savanna, efforts in Brazil are growing every day, bringing much-needed relief to communities whilst mitigating climate change.

This project is:

  • Planting different tree species across Brazil

  • Providing jobs to local communities

  • Helping to prevent desertification caused by climate change

  • Protecting habitats of vast array of exotic and endangered animals
